Job description: JOB TITLE Female Ask Me Worker/ Outreach Worker Victim Service Hampshire- East *This post is open to female applicants only as being female is deemed to be a genuine occupational requirement under Schedule 9, Paragraph 1 of the Equality Act 2010. Salary: £21,121 Terms: Fixed term contract until 31st March 2024 Working Hours: 37 per week The Hampshire Service is staffed 9am-5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 5.00pm on Friday. Staff will provide an on-call out of hours service, on a rota basis. MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB Ask Me: Consult with local communities about the introduction of the Ask Me scheme to their area Build relationships with survivors and communities to develop their collective power to inform local implementation of the scheme. Adapt the tools and resources already developed for the scheme to local requirements and in line with Women’s Aid Federation of England guidance. Engage with and encourage a wide range of community members to join the scheme, checking for suitability throughout training Deliver training and workshops to community members that increase their understanding of the right response to domestic abuse in line with the Change That Last principles Provide ongoing support and guidance to community ambassadors Outreach: To provide support, advice and assistance to women, men and their families who have experienced domestic abuse or are at risk of domestic abuse. To provide resettlement services when women and their children moving on from refuge accommodation and to provide outreach services to victims and survivors of domestic abuse in the wider community. The work will focus on preventing domestic abuse by providing support and facilitating safe space for victims and survivors of domestic abuse and peer support networks in the community and supporting women and men to keep safe in and maintain their current or new accommodation. The post-holder will work as part of the refuge team, but their work will be community based, with families who have moved out of the refuge, women and men who make contact via the Stop Domestic Abuse’s Advice Line or are referred from other agencies. The post-holder will work to empower and support all victims and survivors of domestic abuse to make positive choices. 1 To participate in the delivery of the on-call out of hours service on a rota basis. Location: Stop Domestic Abuse currently covers the whole of Hampshire, including Portsmouth. Our Head Office is based in Havant. This post will be covering Rushmoor, Hart and East Hampshire. The post-holder may be based at more than one site. DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Adapt tools and resources developed by WAFE to meet local requirements in line with WAFE guidance. 2. Develop relationships in communities to promote the Ask Me project. 3. Advertise Ambassador role and training to recruit potential Ambassadors to the project. 4. Complete ‘Train the Trainer’ training and deliver Ask Me training to new Ambassadors. 5. Provide ongoing support and guidance to Ambassadors, encouraging a consistent quality of actions to raise awareness about domestic abuse and to offer safe, helpful responses to any survivors who disclose. 6. Provide immediate effective response to people disclosing domestic abuse experiences and ensuring they can access suitable support. 7. Collate and submit accurate monitoring information, including statistics of Ambassadors trained, contacts Ambassadors have reported and case studies as requested 8. To ensure that the needs of all victims and survivors of domestic abuse living in the community are met. This will be done by: Providing one-to-one services living in the community including safety planning and risk assessments Supporting women and men to be free from domestic abuse Providing advocacy and support for victims and survivors of domestic abuse Providing one-to-one services for women moving on from refuge accommodation into the local community. Providing parenting and family support To work with service users to identify their needs. 9. On a rota basis participate and adhere to the procedural guidelines and timeframes of Stop Domestic Abuse’s Front Door Service as the first point of contact, information, advice, assessment and triage for victims, their
