2021 LEXINGTON AREA TENNIS LEAGUE (LATA) USTA LEAGUE TENNIS MIXED DOUBLES MIXED ADULT 18 & Over, 40 & Over, 55 & Over, 65 & Over DOUBLES LEAGUE RULES AND REGULATIONS USTA League Tennis National Regulations, Southern Regulations and SC Mixed Doubles Regulations shall apply to the USTA Mixed Doubles League and take precedence over LATA Mixed Doubles League Rules. The purpose of the Rules and Regulations is to assure that fair play and good conduct is maintained at all times and to assist the tennis league in rendering equity to all teams and players. The Rules and Regulations are approved by the State prior to League Matches. The Local League Coordinator’s responsibility is to organize, coordinate and supervise all USTA League Tennis activities on the local level and report to the State League Coordinator. The Local League Coordinator has been approved to implement and administer the USTA League Tennis Program and interpret the Mixed Doubles Local League rules, regulations and procedures. It is the responsibility of each Team Captain to familiarize all team members with the Rules and Regulations. The Geographic Area for the Lexington Area Tennis Association (LATA) consists mainly of Lexington County and Orangeburg County with the following facilities being currently utilized: Ball Park Road Cayce Tennis and Fitness Center Country Club of Orangeburg Golden Hills Country Club Kingston Harbor Lexington Country Club Lexington County Tennis Complex Melvin Park Murraywood Tennis and Racquet Club Northwest Family YMCA Quail Hollow Swim and Racquet Club Quail Valley Swim and Racquet Club Rawls Creek Swim and Racquet Club Saluda Shoals Park Topspin Racquet and Swim Club Format: A. B. C. D. E. F. Three eligible mixed doubles partnerships. A minimum of six (6) players (3 of each gender) per team. The team that wins at least two of the three individual matches wins the team match. All matches in the Mixed Doubles League will be the best of three sets with a match tie break (i.e., first team to win at least 10 points and with at least a two-point margin over the opponent) in lieu of the third set, and with set tie breaks (i.e., first team to win at least 7 points and with at least a two point margin over the opponent) at 6-all in the first two sets. If either a set tiebreak or match tiebreak is needed, the Coman Tiebreak Procedure is to be used. The partnership must not exceed the combined level of play that the team has entered. The combined ratings of a partnership cannot be more than 1.0 NTRP rating apart. Combined partnerships may enter one of the following levels of play: MIXED ADULT 18 & OVER AGE GROUP: 2.5, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0, 10.0 MIXED ADULT 40 & OVER AGE GROUP: 2.5, 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 MIXED ADULT 55 & OVER AGE GROUP: 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 MIXED ADULT 65 & OVER AGE GROUP: 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 NOTE: 2.5 level is a STRAIGHT LEVEL of play: The minimum NTRP level for 2.5 is 2.0; 6.0 is 2.5; 7.0 is 3.0; 8.0 is 3.5; 9.0 is 4.0; 10.0 is 4.5. Eligibility: All players must have a current USTA membership which is valid through league season including local playoffs and any player who progresses to championship levels in the USTA Mixed League Program must be a current member through each championship progression. (Any player applying for or renewing USTA membership may do so online when registering on TennisLink A. Players must be 18 years of age prior to participating in his or her first local league in the Adult Mixed League Program. Each player over the age of 18 shall have reached the required minimum age prior to or during the calendar year in which such player participates in his or her first local Mixed League. B. A player may play on more than one team at the same level in separate local leagues in the Mixed 18 & Over, 40 & Over, 55 & Over and 65 & Over Age Divisions. C. A player may play on multiple teams in the same local league as long as they are at different NTRP levels in the Mixed 18 & Over, 40 & Over, 55 & Over and 65 & Over Age Divisions. D. South Carolina will have no residency requirements for mixed local league play. Computer Rating: Any player with a valid computer rating as a result of the ADULT 18 & OVER AGE GROUP, ADULT 40 & OVER AGE GROUP, ADULT 55 & OVER AGE GROUP or Mixed Doubles USTA League Tennis Program must play at that level or higher. Self-Rating: A. Players who do not have a computer rating on file in TennisLink shall self-rate in accordance with the National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) Guidelines and
