Vale Chev Barry R Jamison, KLJ OMLJ The members of the Victorian Commandery of the Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem and of Green Cross Project Inc. are deeply saddened by the loss of its long-standing member Chev. Barry R Jamison KLJ OMLJ, who left us on 4 July 2021. His passing reminds me of a quote attributed to Benjamin Franklin, who said “If you want something done, ask a busy person”. Barry was an active member of our Committee since 1997 and Treasurer between 1997 and 2003. In addition, he offered the professional services of his company to Green Cross Project Inc. with regard to the audit of our accounts and the establishment of our annual reports – a work still continued by his business partner Mr. Joe Canny. We also fondly remember his hosting of our board meetings at his offices and his delightful habit of quoting Japanese Haiku, including Yosa Buson’s (1716-1784) famous A summer river being crossed how pleasing with sandals in my hands! In recognition of his many and valuable contributions, Green Cross awarded him the inaugural Life Membership only last year. The Commandery awarded him Order of Merit Award and a Bronze Medal. One wonders how one man can find the time to run a successful company (now in the able hands of his partner Mr Joe Canny) and still be a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia, the Australian Society of CPA’s, the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Taxation Institute of Australia, an Associate of the Taxation Institute of Australia, the Governance Institute of Australia, the Chartered Institute of Secretaries, and the Institute of Arbitrators and Mediators Australia. In addition, he was a Board member of the Australian Brain Foundation (nationally) and a Board Member and Treasurer for Victoria. He was also a Knight of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre. Requiescat in pace! Dr Walter W J Uhlenbruch AO KLJ OMLJ OFFICIAL
