Requirements for setting fire pools (1) When outdoor water supply network can ensure outdoor fire water consumption, the effective capacity of fire pool should meet the requirement of indoor fire water consumption for building (structure) during the duration of fire. (2) When the outdoor water supply network can not guarantee the outdoor fire water consumption, the effective capacity of the fire pool should meet the requirements of the sum of the indoor fire water consumption of the building and the insufficient outdoor fire water consumption during the duration of the fire. (3) When the volume of the fire pool is larger than 500 m3, it is advisable to set up two fire pools which can be used independently. When the volume of fire pool is more than 1000 m3, it should be divided into two fire pools which can be used independently. Effective volume of fire pool: Va= (Qp-Qb) t The effective volume of Va - fire pool (m3); Qp - design flow rate of hydrant and automatic sprinkler fire extinguishing system (m3/h); Qb - Continuous supplementary flow (m3/h) during the duration of fire; T - Fire duration (h).
