Volunteer Coordinator - Job Description Job Title: Volunteer Coordinator Reports To: Senior Director, Engagement Job Status: Full-time, exempt; Essential staff (nights, weekends, and holidays required) Job Summary: This person creatively identifies opportunities to grow Raleigh Rescue Mission’s volunteer base, engages current volunteers, and manages the administration and organization of volunteer communication, scheduling, and events. Job Duties & Responsibilities:  Leads the identification of volunteer service opportunities and associated requirements in collaboration with Mission staff. Develops and manages documented role descriptions for all volunteer services.  Manages the recruitment, selection and training of volunteers; individuals and church groups, businesses and civic groups. Develops and maintains all online volunteer applications.  Develops and manages volunteer recognition and retention practices. Communicates regularly with volunteers, assisting them with issues, questions, etc.  Promptly processes volunteer service inquiries and applications; includes but isn’t limited to qualifying individuals and groups for volunteer service and determining appropriate volunteer service placements  Schedules volunteers; orients the new volunteers in RRM policies and procedures; and, gives them an in-depth RRM tour.  Coordinates the communication of volunteer service schedules within the Mission.  Manages all volunteer databases, including volunteer service hours, and prepares monthly and yearend volunteer reports.  Manages the dynamic content on the RRM website’s Volunteer page, ensuring all information & content is accurate and current.  Coordinates ongoing Volunteer Ministry publicity and awareness communications. Oversees the creation and use of all volunteer ministry support materials, including brochures, fliers, etc.  Manages several Mission Holiday events: a Christmas gift program for clients and needy families; the Gobbles to Go meal outreach program; a meal sponsorship program; and several special in-kind drives.  Manages & facilitates all community drives for in-kind goods, coordinating with the involved groups to assure that they have the RRM collateral materials they need.  Collaborates with business/corporations who are interested in being involved with Raleigh Rescue Mission through volunteer opportunities.  Cultivates other Mission supporters (financial donors, in-kind donors, volunteers, prayer warriors) as opportunities arise, yielding deeper relationships and greater Mission support.  Represents RRM during speaking engagements in the community and leading RRM tours. These duties are not exclusive and with consideration of the job requirements and the employee’s skills, this job description can be added to or taken away from at the discretion of the employee’s immediate supervisor. Job Skills & Requirements: Raleigh Rescue Mission considers every position one of Christian ministry and every person a vital and valued part of our team. Therefore, it is essential that all employees of RRM have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and subscribe to our Statement of Faith and Core Values.        Bachelor’s degree required; 1-3 years of relevant experience in the non-profit sector preferred Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; collaborative leadership style; and, the ability to foster communication and teamwork Excellent planning, administrative & organizational skills; time management efficiency and attention to detail Highly creative, strategic thinker with a heart for ministry service Ability to work independently with little supervision Ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely; and effectively engage audiences Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Knowledge of the Salesforce volunteer management system preferred.
