Antenatal education classes at Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea Hospital Our aim is to support expectant mothers and their families by providing information based on the current available evidence to enable them to make informed decisions about their care. Antenatal classes help you focus on your pregnancy and get you ready for labour and birth. The Healthy Pregnancy Class We recommend this class for all pregnant women. The session covers exercise and relaxation in pregnancy, pelvic floor muscle exercises, dietary advice and lots more. You should aim to attend as early in your pregnancy as you can (ideally 12 to 16 weeks). This session is for pregnant women only, and not for partners. Please call 020 3313 3072 to book into the class at either Queen Charlotte’s and Hammersmith Hospital or St Mary’s Hospital. Birth Preparation This session addresses coping with labour, remaining active and different positions for labour and birth. You should aim to attend at between 30 to 36 weeks of pregnancy. This session is open to women and their birth partner. Vaginal Birth After Caesarean Section This session is only for women and their birth partners who have had a previous caesarean section and are aiming to give birth vaginally this pregnancy. You should aim to attend at between 30 to 36 weeks of pregnancy. Twins & Multiples This session is only for women and their birth partners who are expecting twins or more. You should aim to attend between 24 to 34 weeks of pregnancy. Breastfeeding your Baby This session is for all women and their partners. You should aim to attend at 30 to 36 weeks of pregnancy. Please note that we offer this as a female-only session once per month. We do not provide physical tours of the maternity unit in order to protect the privacy and dignity of women in the unit, and to ensure that midwives time is fully dedicated to providing direct care to women in labour and on the post natal wards.
