We will continue to be cautious and protect the vulnerable parishioners and visitors to St Mary’s. New infections in Chorley have fallen to 363 new cases (302/100,000) in the seven days up to Feb 19th. Slowly we are beating it. Thank you for all your cooperation. I would like to convey my special thanks to everyone who respected my wishes and to continue in wearing their masks and cleaning hands. I am still implementing the strict H&S rules for your benefit (and mine) and thank you for supporting me. God bless. Fr Marsden. BAPTISMS: We are ready to open the church diary for baptisms. Please send an email to the parish office and you will be asked to complete a baptism form. Please be aware that priority is given to residents within the parish. Any person who lives outside the geography of St Mary’s parish must have a very good reason and their parish priest’s permission to want baptism at St Mary’s. It is usual to be baptized in the parish where you reside. LOURDES TRIP 2022 great news that the Lourdes trip is going ahead this year. 22 nd – 20th July. Registered Charity No. 232709 St Mary’s Catholic Church, Chorley EIGHTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME 27th FEBRUARY 2022 Jesus told a parable to his disciples: ‘Can one blind man guide another? Surely both will fall into a pit? The disciple is not superior to his teacher; the fully trained disciple will always be like his teacher. Why do you observe the splinter in your brother’s eye and never notice the plank in your own? How can you say to your brother, “Brother, let me take out the splinter that is in your eye,” when you cannot see the plank in your own? Hypocrite! Take the plank out of your own eye first, and then you will see clearly enough to take out the splinter that is in your brother’s eye. ‘There is no sound tree that produces rotten fruit, nor again a rotten tree that produces sound fruit. For every tree can be told by its own fruit: people do not pick figs from thorns, nor gather grapes from brambles. A good man draws what is good from the store of goodness in his heart; a bad man draws what is bad from the store of badness. For a man’s words flow out of what fills his heart.’ Luke 6:39-45 Sat 26th 16.15–16.45 17.00 Sun 27th 10.00 11.30 Confessions (at porch of presbyter) Mass – Norah Carter (A) EIGHTH SUNDAY OF ORDINARY TIME (Mass book p.144) Day of Prayer for the unemployed.
