ACTUARIAL FOUNDATION DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP Award: $1,000 (for Freshman year) April Opens in November closes in Criteria: This scholarship is offered to minority students interested in actuarial science. The minority scholarship requires a personal statement, transcripts, and two letters of recommendation. Check www.actuarialfoundation.org and click on Scholarships (under the Programs tab) and then Actuarial Diversity for new details each year and to apply online. ARNOLD EDUCATION GRANT PROGRAM Award: $500 – $4,000 Deadline: April 30 Criteria: Student must be the dependent of an active, retired, or deceased Air Force member. Requires a minimum 3.0/5.0 GPA, enrollment in a two- or four-year DOE-approved institution, and financial need. Some grant applicants may also be offered an additional $5,000 merit-based scholarship or a $1,000 loan opportunity. Go to www.AFAS.org, look under How We Help, and click on Education and then Education Grants to find the details and to apply online after November 1 AIR FORCE ASSOCIATION LT COL ROMEO AND JOSEPHINE BASS FERRETTI SCHOLARSHIP Award: $5,000 Deadline: April 30 Criteria: This program is for seniors who are dependents of enlisted airmen (active duty or retired Air Force, Air Force Reserve, or Air National Guard) and who plan to study for an undergraduate degree in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM). Requires an essay about your academic achievements and goals, transcripts, proof of enrollment in an appropriate major, a photo, and a letter of recommendation. AIR FORCE SERGEANTS ASSOCIATION/AIRMEN MEMORIAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS Award: $500 - $3,000 Deadline: March 31 Criteria: Students interested in attending an accredited college or university must be the dependent of an active duty, retired, or veteran Air Force, ANG, or AFRC enlisted member to apply. Requires a 3.5 GPA on an unweighted 4.0 scale, SAT or ACT scores, an essay, and a letter of recommendation. The same application applies for several other AFSA scholarship programs. AIR TRAFFIC CONTROL ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP Deadline: May 1 Award: Varies Criteria: Category A of this scholarship is for students who will attend a two-year or greater air traffic control program at an approved school and Category B is aimed at students planning to attend an accredited college or university half or full-time to get a bachelors degree in an aviation-related field. Considers aviation-related experience and financial need. Requires an essay, transcripts, and two letters of recommendation.
