WEURO2022 Project Manager • Are you interested in women’s football and want to be part of the WEUROS? • Do you have experience of heritage project management? • Are you interested in contemporary collecting, oral histories and community engagement? The National Football Museum is seeking to appoint a freelance WEUROS Project Manager to join our Content (Collections, Exhibitions and Programmes) team on a major heritage project to tell the story through objects and images, of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 tournament. The Project Manager will play a key role in the development of a new co-curated exhibition on the history of the women’s game at the museum and contribute to an ‘Object Lab’ which will be set up to source stories and objects. Introduction In July 2022, England will stage WEURO 2022. The tournament will use the inspiration and reach of football to deliver long-lasting social and cultural changes, particularly for women and girls. Starting 6 July, the tournament will last 26 days, during which time there will be 31 matches, played by 16 national teams, in nine cities, watched live by 750,000 people; and we’re delighted that Manchester is a Host City! Working with UK Sport, and other key partners including Manchester City Council The Football Association is keen to see how the cultural programme can support local legacies and share learnings for future major UK sporting events. Applications have been made to Arts Council England and to National Lottery Heritage Fund to support work in every Host City. This will include indoor and outdoor exhibitions, creative responses to heritage, an archives and libraries programme, school resources and online content for each Host City. This project will support post-pandemic recovery: attracting inward investment; boosting visitor economy; supporting a weakened creative sector; repopulating public spaces; rebuilding confidence to attend/participate in events and supporting local cultural ambitions and skill development. The National Football Museum is looking for an experienced freelance Project Manager to ensure the WEURO heritage programme reaches, engages and support grassroots community groups, schools and individuals. This role will be based at the National Football Museum and will be focused on working with our Content team to deliver the following:         Contemporary collecting programme: Developing, delivering and managing collecting days around games and at the museum to support rapid collection of objects and stories relating to the tournament and women’s football Community programme: Develop and promote family engagement activities Schools programme: Support the museum’s tournament schools offer and a digital schools’ resource. Volunteer programme: Recruiting and training a team of 10 volunteers who will support the contemporary collecting events and document oral histories. Digital content: Produce website content to showcase a selection of the contemporary objects and stories collected. Evaluation: Collection and analysis of data to support the overall project evaluation, which is being conducted by an external evaluator. Project coordination: Ensuring the smooth delivery of the project. Supporting a national photographic competition on a local level. Summary of role The WEUROS Project Manager will have a specific responsibility for:            Recruiting and managing 10 participants who identify as female from Manchester communities, particularly those who have been identified as traditionally having low cultural engagement, for the volunteer programme. Coordinating contemporary collecting and oral history training for the volunteers. Developing and managing five contemporary collection events at local WEUROS games and within communities. Facilitating collection events as part of the Objects Lab at the museum Supporting the development of the Women’s Football Exhibition Coordinating the development of family activities to deliver at collecting days. Supporting the museum’s schools offer and the creation of a digital schools’ resource Coordinating the creation of digital content for the National Football Museum, which will showcase a selection of collected objects, oral histories and stories Leading the evaluation of the National Football Museum’s project outputs and feed these into the overall project evaluation. Promoting opportunities for participation and
