Prelude- Jane P., Kellie M. Call to Worship, Ringing of Church Bell The First Lesson is from Matthew 21: 1-9 As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.” This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: “Say to Daughter Zion, ‘See, your king comes to you, gentle and riding on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.’” The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on. A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted, (C) “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!” “Hosanna in the highest heaven!” Song of Invitation “The King Is Coming” Verse 1: The marketplace is empty, No more traffic in the streets, All the builders' tools are silent, No more time to harvest wheat; Busy housewives cease their labors, In the courtroom no debate, Work on earth is all suspended As the King comes thro' the gate. Chorus: The King is coming The King is coming! I just heard the trumpets sounding, And now His face I see; O the King is coming, The King is coming! Praise God, He’s coming for me! Verse 2: Happy faces line the hallways, Those whose lives have been redeemed, Broken homes that He has mended, Those from prison He has freed; Little children and the aged Hand in hand stand all aglow, Who were crippled, broken, ruined, Clad in garments white as snow. Chorus: O the King is coming The King is coming! I just heard the trumpets sounding, And now His face I see; O the King is coming, The King is coming! Praise God, He’s coming for me! Verse 3: I can hear the chariots rumble I can see the marching throng The flurry of God’s trumpets, Spells the end of sin and wrong; Regal robes are now unfolding, Heaven’s grandstand’s all in place, Heaven’s choir now assembled, Start to sing “Amazing Grace!” Chorus: O the King is coming The King is coming! I just heard the trumpets sounding, And now His face I see; O the King is coming, The King is coming! Praise God, He’s coming for me!
